Common
        Terms:
Contrary to popular belief, Sushi (a generalized
term) isn't all raw fish!!!
There are many rolls you can get with cooked or
smoked fish, as well as many vegetable
selections.
Basically anything with the word “maki” in it
means that it is rolled in some fashion and sliced
into 6 or 8 pieces. Some are hand rolled
(meaning that they are very thick) and others
are mat rolled (on the bamboo mat) giving it a
normal size. Some are just wrapped up like a
waffle cone.
Maki Rolls (Seaweed wrap is on the outside
while “stuffed” with rice and fish or veggies)
Uramaki (Rice is on the outside and topped
usually with sesame seeds, the seaweed is part
of the stuffing and on the inside)
Nigiri (a large dab of rice that is topped with fish
or veggies, and sometimes wrapped with a small
strip of seaweed)
Sashimi (raw fish, sliced thin and served with
various dipping sauces)
Wasabi (Japanese horseradish. It is green and
in a “dab” and very very hot!!)
Ginger Slices (eat the rolls and take a bite of
ginger…Ahhhh, heaven!!)
